My beautiful 1998 Z28 Camaro which I purchased initially as a police vehicle. It had a governor on it to limit its speed, which I informed my now ex-wife I would have to have programmatically removed for police work. She asked what it's top end speed was as is WITH the governor on - I said 160 mph! I only got it up to 150 mph before running out of road. Oh well...Front end view. (Now, just imagine bright red & blue lights coming from either side of the license plate and upper center of the windshield. It would remind me over and over again how it wanted to be a police car... Oh well, some things were just not meant to be!)
Installed a laptop so as to assist in my Real Estate pursuits (albeit it still wanted to be involved in 'other' types of pursuits as well!!).

A similar view, only this time with the airbags effectively deployed!!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!

Had glanced down and when I glanced up (perhaps no more than 1/2 second later) all I saw was something red through a cloud of white dust, and felt like I was all of a sudden 'pushing' something... Only after it was all over in less than 2 seconds, did I realize that I was involved in a crash. After the airbag dust cleared, this is basically what I saw - except that EMS had not yet arrived.
The other driver sustained a fractured skull in two places on the right side of his head, and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Had I been 1/2 second earlier into the intersection, instead of me t-boning the red Mustang's empty passenger seat, the red Mustang WOULD have t-boned my occupied driver's seat. Outcome would have been drastically different, no doubt.

Both cars were totaled. Bummer!!!!

My beautiful (but expired) Camaro!!
All's well, that ends well, I suppose. It sacrificed it's life so that we could use the proceeds (which was far more than what I had anticipated) to finish fixing up the house so that we could move back to Utah.
Unbeknown to me at the time was that my insurance had lapsed just the day before the crash (isn't that the way it always goes?!! Hate when that happens!!). The at fault driver's insurance (Farmers) has been very cooperative and they have covered the collision in full.
OH MY GOODNESS!! This is not a pretty sight. I loved the "before" photos MUCH better. Glad you are here to tell the tale. When did this happen anyway???
ReplyDeleteThe second car in the family to go this year. Andy lost "the blue" earlier this summer. We're sure glad you're ok! Did your camero have a name?
