A Day with Lynn's Brother Dave & His Family

Saturday the 19th - Our one month Anniversary! We went to San Antonio to Dave and Rosie's again. What a treat. We drove and drove and drove way off the beaten path to a little cafe purported to have the best hamburgers in the world! Dave said he'd not actually had the best yet, so we needed to try it.

Yep- they were the best! So far...

This is it! Miles and miles from civilization and standing room only! A favorite spot for bikers along the back roads.

Later, just at sunset, we went to Enchanted Rock in Fredericksburg, or at least near there. We went to the National Museum of the Pacific War and we were treated to a show at the RockBox, a comedy and rock and roll show that was absolutely delightful!

Then, to top it off, Chris thought we should climb a mountain.

Of course, Chris has done this before with the scouts, or the Young Men's group or somebody. But Rosie and I put a limit on just how far up the rock we were willing to climb at the end of a long day!

The arrow shows how far our limits were. (It looks alot bigger close up!)

Happy Anniversary!

This has been an AWESOME trip! Thanks Dave and Rosie for spending your valuable time with us!

In Solemn Memory of...

My beautiful 1998 Z28 Camaro which I purchased initially as a police vehicle. It had a governor on it to limit its speed, which I informed my now ex-wife I would have to have programmatically removed for police work. She asked what it's top end speed was as is WITH the governor on - I said 160 mph! I only got it up to 150 mph before running out of road. Oh well...

Front end view. (Now, just imagine bright red & blue lights coming from either side of the license plate and upper center of the windshield. It would remind me over and over again how it wanted to be a police car... Oh well, some things were just not meant to be!)

Installed a laptop so as to assist in my Real Estate pursuits (albeit it still wanted to be involved in 'other' types of pursuits as well!!).

A similar view, only this time with the airbags effectively deployed!!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!

Had glanced down and when I glanced up (perhaps no more than 1/2 second later) all I saw was something red through a cloud of white dust, and felt like I was all of a sudden 'pushing' something... Only after it was all over in less than 2 seconds, did I realize that I was involved in a crash. After the airbag dust cleared, this is basically what I saw - except that EMS had not yet arrived.

The other driver sustained a fractured skull in two places on the right side of his head, and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Had I been 1/2 second earlier into the intersection, instead of me t-boning the red Mustang's empty passenger seat, the red Mustang WOULD have t-boned my occupied driver's seat. Outcome would have been drastically different, no doubt.

Both cars were totaled. Bummer!!!!

My beautiful (but expired) Camaro!!

All's well, that ends well, I suppose. It sacrificed it's life so that we could use the proceeds (which was far more than what I had anticipated) to finish fixing up the house so that we could move back to Utah.

Unbeknown to me at the time was that my insurance had lapsed just the day before the crash (isn't that the way it always goes?!! Hate when that happens!!). The at fault driver's insurance (Farmers) has been very cooperative and they have covered the collision in full.

Long, long ago (and PROOF that we were once young, too!!)...

One of our favorite places to go as small children in Ohio was Hocking Hills - this is one of those times. Most assuredly we were forced to sit on the log and stay out of the fire! All the boys' eyes are on the fire, tho, so I'm sure we didn't sit there for long!

This is JoAnn, Debbie Lynn, Wayne, Kent, and David. The Burtons and the Gortons. The way we remember it, being together and having fun...

Oh, the good old days!!!

Passing thru LasVegasNV & ShertzTX

On our way to Houston we got to go to Las Vegas for Dalton's baptism! Here we are at Casi and Jeremy's house. Papa Kent is holding Gentrie, 3 then Dalton, 9 and Jahde, (just barely 5 and starting kindergarten this year!) then Keaton, 7 and Casi and Jeremy. Oh yeah, that's me (Nana) in the middle.

The proud parents and grandparents. Dalton's baptism was AWESOME!!!!

(Here, Jeremy is either kneeling or standing abt 120 yds behind us so as to make us appear less intimidated by his stature!! LOL!!!)

Chad (Jeremy's brother) and wife Cassy, came over just as we were getting ready to leave. We were SO happy to see them! They are great!!!

The grandparents and the OTHER grandparents.
John and Melinda Evans, our good friends, and Jeremy's folks, came to the baptism as well as Jeremy's brother McKay 17, who performed the baptism ordinance. Jer's sister Amanda and her hubby Nate were also there.

Our Keaton, and Josh, Chad and Cassy's pride and joy, the 'trouble twins'! Always together, and always finding something mischievous to do!

The Evans children:
Our grandchildren Jahde Alix, Keaton Marshall, Dalton Rick and Gentrie Alisabeth

Casi and Jeremy, the happy parents.

After Vegas, we stopped at Kent's son and daughter-in-law Kent and Carly's but they were already in bed asleep! His youngest daughter Amy was also there to see us, and we had a lovely visit over breakfast, but we took NO pictures! They left for church, and we left for Texas.

We stopped in Schertz, near San Antonio, to see Lynn's brother Dave, wife Roselyn and son Chris. We had a lovely night out at the Riverwalk - here we are at a little restaurant.

This is Chris - 16 years old and very patient with us old people!

And not bad with the camera, either!

Remember the Alamo? We walked all around but were too late to explore inside. We had a great visit, but still had to get to Houston tonight, so we were off! Another 3 and a half hours to go.....

The Wedding

Where it all started, back approximately 4,000,000 yrs ago, when the volcanoes were still flowing and spewing lava all over the place, and some caveman just happened to have a camera... Not too shabby, huh? I mean, even a caveman can do it!!!

And then here comes another one, a bit more innocent - well, kinda. Boy, did we have fun in those younger years!! (Sure glad the folks were too busy with Church and all to know what was going on, huh?!!!)

The newlyweds with the newlyweds! Stephen and Connie Gorton married earlier this year, March 7 to be exact (Clay's birthday) after waiting for each other for 35 yrs. (Seems to be a common theme)

Here's Lynn w/ Joe (the son of Lynn's younger brother Stephen). Joe had special significance in Lynn's life before her knight in shining white armor( heck, however it's supposed to go!!!) came galloping (well, flying in on one of those geese up in the skies) to rescue her!! Joe provided fun and joy at the movie theaters while Lynn was awaiting her heart throb to arrive on the scene!!

Possibly a private joke? We were visiting with Mike Pearson, Roger's best friend and High Priest Group Leader.

Lynn's oldest daughter Erin Elizabeth with her husband Chris Horne. Oh, yeah, and the next little Horne about to debut this October.

Lynn's son Ryan Burton Brown and his son, (Ryan) Austin. We call him Boss. He is 11 and one AWESOME kid!!!

Kent's oldest daughter Lanae and husband Jared Larson with their three beautiful boys, Jordan 4, Austin 3, and Cayden 2 months old.

Lynn's second daughter, Tara Rebecca, with her three kids, Eric 14, Jordan Nathanael 11, and the princess Ciara Rebecca, 8 years old and proud of it!

This one's good! Winter Whitney, 15, Lynn's oldest grandbaby and best friend (Erin's daughter), and Eric Ashton, 14 (Tara's son) the strippling young warrior of our family.

Oh, yeah. Winter tinted her hair pink and brown for the wedding. Sooooo cute! Her natural color is blonder than blonde, so she can be any color she wants.

This is Dave (photographer) and Leila Malcolm with us. Leila and Lynn have worked together for 21 years, and have been best friends since the pre
existence. She is the sister my Mom likes best.

The trouble makers. Don't let the look of innocence fool you.

Our good Bishop Scott Sperry. What a great man!
However, he did poke fun at how many weddings he has performed for our family in just the last 10 months!

He even offered to perform any others that night if need be! There were no takers.

The BURTONS. McKay and Rene (Dad and Mom) with Wayne and Laurie and Kent (the favorite) and Lynn. Go ahead, ask JoAnn. She knows all about it.

1st Time Bloggers...

Well, here it goes. We're doing this together, and haven't a clue as to what we're doing - setting up a blog that is. Thing is, we want to get pictures and commentary out there for all of our friends and family that are interested in our comings and goings. So, if you have any suggestions and/or tidbits on how to make this more effective and/or entertaining (no, we're not going to dance on the table or anything like that!!), we'd love to hear from you. So... Hope you enjoy.
